Proxy Rule Test

Verify that your proxy/VPN rules are routing traffic correctly

How This Test Works

  1. The tool first detects your real IP address (the IP your browser uses without proxy)
  2. It then makes requests to multiple test endpoints through your proxy/VPN
  3. Each endpoint reports the IP it sees — if it differs from your real IP, the proxy is working for that route
  4. If any endpoint sees your real IP, that specific route rule needs adjustment

What is Proxy Rule Testing?

Proxy rule testing verifies that your proxy or VPN configuration is correctly routing traffic according to your defined rules. When you use a proxy (such as Clash, V2Ray, Shadowsocks, or a PAC file), different traffic may be routed through different paths — some through the proxy server, some directly. This test helps you confirm that the routing is working as expected and that no traffic is leaking your real IP address.

Why Test Proxy Rules?

How to Set Up Proxy Rules

For Clash / V2Ray Users:

  1. Open your proxy client configuration file
  2. Define routing rules based on domain, IP CIDR, or geo-location
  3. Set the default rule (proxy or direct) for unmatched traffic
  4. Save and reload the configuration
  5. Run this test to verify rules are applied correctly

For PAC File Users:

  1. Edit your PAC (Proxy Auto-Configuration) file
  2. Use the FindProxyForURL(url, host) function to define rules
  3. Return "PROXY proxy:port" for traffic that should go through the proxy
  4. Return "DIRECT" for traffic that should connect directly
  5. Deploy the PAC file and run this test

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean if a test shows "wrong"?

If a test shows "wrong", it means the test endpoint saw your real IP instead of the proxy IP. This indicates that your proxy rule for that specific route is not working correctly, and traffic is bypassing the proxy. You should review and adjust the corresponding routing rule.

Do I need to enable my proxy before testing?

Yes. Make sure your proxy or VPN is active and configured before running the test. The test compares the IP seen by each endpoint against your real IP to determine if the proxy is working.

Is this test safe? Does it store my data?

Yes, the test is completely safe. We only compare IP addresses to verify routing. No personal data is stored, and all test results are analyzed in real-time without persistence.
